Ryan Bolger - Foundations of Ministry II

Ryan Bolger gave a lecture on the Emerging Church discussion. He had a lot of good things to say about it being tied to the application of missiological principles traditionally aimed at "other" cultures to our own culture as it changes out from under us. He brought up Paul Hiebert's notion about giving people space to "windowshop" the gospel by being in community before they commit to it, though he didn't name it as such. He also spent some time talking about the "club culture" in the UK that has replaced church functionally for most adults and is now coming full circle as faithful Christians within it are expressing their worship from within that world. I wish he had mentioned Jonny Baker's great site where you can see one London community's work doing this up close. Overall a good talk.
